Dominica Gourmet: A traditional Spin on Dominican Cuisine

I’m delighted to announce that my cookbook, “Dominica Gourmet: A Unique Spin on Traditional Dominican Cuisine” will be published this month and available for preorder on Amazon.

YAY!

For many months, I worked tirelessly to bring this cookbook to life, and today, I can proudly announce that my hard work is coming to fruition. The journey was no easy feat, and I couldn’t have done it without the help of many. It takes a village!

I want to thank all of you for your support and for encouraging me to write a cookbook, push forward, and continue sharing my Dominican dishes. Your support kept me going.

The 312-page hardcover book offers some of Dominica’s traditional favorites and a few inspirational dishes. It’s filled with wonderful stories that help bring the recipes to life. The book also includes some historical context regarding food on the island and some information about our unique Dominican culture.

The symbolic launch during the month of October is critical in understanding and acknowledging the impact of our creole heritage on our Dominican food culture.

Dominica Gourmet: A Unique Spin on Traditional Dominican Cuisine is a must-read. Pre-order your copy today.

Meet Mayma

Sakafete! Growing up in Dominica, food was central to socializing and in abundance. Cooking with my family was one of the highlights of my youth. We grew our produce and raised livestock, which often made it to our kitchen table. With my mother and grandmother's guidance, I discovered my passion for cooking at age 9. We used lots of verbal recipes then. Today, I share those culinary experiences with my children, using the fundamentals of Dominican cooking and making it our own. I'm not a trained cook/chef, however, as I embark on my food journey, I invite you to experience foods from the Caribbean island of Dominica. Let's cook!
